The cold air in fresh food section of your refrigerator usually comes from the freezer section by way of an air damper. This damper just controls how much air is allowed to circulate from the freezer to the refrigerator- usually by adjusting the size of the hole between the sections. The air passage is generally hidden from view but can occasionally be blocked by food. Air is forced through this damper by the fan in the freezer section.
