Air filters in a refrigerator do more than just keep it smelling nice inside- they also keep the food and ice from tasting like onions and bad bologna! The activated carbon used in most of these filters actually absorbs the odor as the air is circulated between the freezer and refrigerator sections. These fridge air filter replacements generally work for up to 6 months before they need to be replaced.
